Schools' Representatives' Feedback
It has been a fantastic day. For me what's worked very well is that we did a panel of presentations in the morning where we were able to give very different views on various points of British education, but in the afternoon we had a succession of interviews with children so I've personally seen 24 students, all prescreened, and all extremely serious about coming to UK. Such meticulous preparation made the whole day very much more focused than otherwise might have been the case. The ITEC event, I think, has been modelled on the very successful Top Schools Academic Asia event, which I have been fortunate enough to participate in. I really love this approach.

The ITEC event was a fantastic opportunity to meet a whole host of preselected Russian students, all dedicated and committed, and all hoping to study in England. It was likewise gratifying to realize that they had done their 'homework' and knew exactly what kind of schools we have on offer. So this presented a great chance to have sharply focused, direct interviews – 15 minutes for each pupil. It has been my good fortune, therefore, to meet some outstanding students, all of whom would be welcome at our schools and, I have no doubt, be certain to contribute a great deal to our academic and social environment.

It is clear to me that a huge amount of work went into preparing for this event and this showed in how the students were filtered to make sure that they were of high quality. I was also impressed by the fact that all of them came with their moms and dads.
So I have already put my name down to attend next year. I think it's fantastic event and I recommend that you join this too, - but not all of you, because we don't want too much competition!

My first visit to Moscow has been a fantastic experience. I think that what has been particularly good about this is the amount of hard work which the team at ITEC put into preparing just the right level of students for us to meet. This really helps with the whole process. Also it means a lot that these students were intensely interested in what we came to talk about and showed themselves to be more than suitable candidates; indeed, they seemed like exactly the sort of students that we are looking for. In my own personal point of view as a professional consultant, it has been very useful to meet the students and to see how we might help them to fully integrate into the British system. We understand that it is never easy to move to a different country, plus being asked to tackle a totally different education system as well. I've met some very high quality students whom I think would do very well in British schools. To this I should add that, despite the fact that many of them were the products of Russian schools, I found their level of English to be remarkably proficient.

The event was separated into two halves: the first opened up a general discussion about the education system in the UK. In this segment the typical questions were: What is the best age for students to study in UK, what is it like to enter such a new environment, etc. ? – basic but very important issues. The second part gave us the opportunity to meet the students face-to-face and discuss in detail more minute topics regarding the application process for acceptance, individual curriculum choices, and so on.
This type of format, in my view, compares most favorably with the standard bill of fare in other such settings that I am familiar with. Parents had a chance to talk a lot more and even, in turn, interview me and other event participants. So all in all I was very much impressed with the entire proceedings.
